Split, Croatia is My Top Vacation Recommendation
Tourism in Split received its latest high-profile endorsement on July 28, 2015, as celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern from Bizarre Foods named Split as "probably the best summertime warm-weather vacation recommendation I can give you", during a live interview on Fox News, which you can see below.
Zimmern, who was filming for his show in Central Dalmatia in April - was more than a little impressed by his visit to Croatia, and his upcoming show on his visit is being eagerly anticipated. Zimmern compared Croatia to Italy 200 years ago, and was full of compliments:
"It is what Italy was 200 years ago. If you are looking for an Italian vacation minus a billion tourists in the summertime, way less expensive, at least for the next year... In Italy on the east coast, due to the boat traffic and the number of people, you can no longer reach into the water - I am talking right off the beach - and pull out fresh seafood and eat it. Fifty miles across the sea in Croatia, you actually can. Split, Croatia is probably the best summertime warm-weather vacation recommendation I can give you."
